Magic Kingdom - Day 7. 14/11/2021
Just a note: I asked on my insta story for some suggestions of what to do today and I only got one. It said EVERYTHING! So I did my best! lol
My body woke me at 3am to remind me I had not set an alarm for the morning which was good because I had forgotten that I had a 7.50am breakfast at Grand Floridian resort.
The park at MK didn’t open until 9 today and no Disney transportation was available yet, so I booked myself a Lyft - I would recommend Lyft over Uber as they not only do not tend to do surge pricing, they also do discounts at certain times. - I got myself to Grand Floridian and was greeted from my car by a very nice young gentlemen who showed me where I needed to go.
GF is absolutely beautiful. Totally out of my price range and not really my type of resort but so, so pretty and stunningly decorated for the holiday season, including the famous gingerbread house.
I had a wonderful breakfast of fruit with yogurt, coffee (with a cup to go) and eggs Benedict before hopping on the monorail to Magic Kingdom.
A lovely stroll up Main Street to see Cinderella Castle, a little Dapper Dan show and got the Super Zoom photo before I had to check in at Town Square Theatre for my Capture Your Moment session.
This time Brian was my photographer and once again he took 52 really lovely photos of me around the castle and surrounding areas. I’m so happy with the pics! You can see a sample below. I can’t recommend these enough. If you want some professional pics that are guaranteed just of your family, $50 for 20 minutes or $100 for 40 minutes is a great and not too big price to pay.
Brian dropped me off at the back of the castle where I immediately spotted Anastasia and Drizzella! These two are so much fun! Definitely stop by and see them if you can! You can find them on the left hand side (as you look at the castle) as you walk up the side.
Then there was only 10 minutes’ wait for all four princesses in Princess Fairytale Hall so off I went to meet Rapunzel, Tiana, Cinderella and Elena.
If you love to meet the face to face to characters but struggle knowing what to say, the best bet is to mention ANY character from their story. They know their stories back to front and upside down because they have to, so ask them about it. If it’s a more obscure one, even better because they probably will love having something different to talk about!
At this point I decided to test out the 120 minute rule for Genie+ there is a video about this in the group - and managed to snag an additional LL for mad tea Party. Then I had one of my favourite Magic Kingdom snacks, a Cheshire Cat Tail from Cheshire Café- YUM!
Checked in for Mad Tea party then immediately grabbed another LL for Big Thunder after Jungle Cruise.
Started to make my way to Adventureland and here’s where I give another tip. Rides might go down every so often. When they do, keep an eye out for them coming back up, you might just catch it at the right time for a really short wait time - like me. I was walking to my Jungle Cruise LL and hit a 5 minute standby line for Splash Mountain because it had just opened back up! Score!
Somehow, by some miracle I was NOT absolutely soaked on Splash Mountain! So off to the far side of Adventureland to the Spring Roll cart! Iconic!
They have a Cheeseburger one and a 50th special of Pastrami and Pepper Jack cheese with a mustard sauce. You get 2 of your choice for $9.50 so I got one of each. They were tasty but not, in my opinion, worth the hype or the money !
Now onto my very first Jungle Cruise! (Checked in and straight away got another LL for Buzz Lightyear. So I still had two on the go! ) Jungle Cruise was loads of fun! I’ve never been on it before. I had Skipper Taylor and she was great. And then when I came out I went in to watch the Enchanted Tiki Room show as it fit in before my next LL time. It’s so adorable and fun and just a classic!
Right on over to Big Thunder Mountain for my next LL, checked in and booked my next one right away for Philharmagic which I LOVE because it’s Donald-centric of course!
Great ride as always on Big Thunder and then on my way to Buzz I called at Sunshine Tree Terrace to get my Dole Whip fix. I’m not a fan of the pineapple flavour so I got myself an orange and chocolate one (this isn’t strictly on the menu but when you order the orange you can add a flavour)
Just managed to finish my Dole Whip as I got into the Lightning Lane for Buzz. I had also changed one of my previous ones as I was definitely not going to make it to Philharmagic yet and I didn’t want to waste it. So I swapped it out for Journey of the Little Mermaid and when I tagged in for Buzz I got a new Philharmagic.
Walking over to Buzz I stopped on Main Street to the watch the 50th Cavalcade go by. Basically all the main guys in their Earidescent outfits. Very cute and I got to see Donald again, yay!
Had my absolutely worse score ever on Buzz but at least I remembered where the photo was ! (Update - I was aiming for sassy in the photo and I just look scared. Let’s never speak of the whole thing again.)
My two LLs sorted, I took a nice 20 minute break with the Carousel of Progress. Love a classic attraction and with that song stuck in my head (at least until I get on Small World) I went off to get on Philharmagic! Which for some reason took AGES to get filled up which made me worry I would miss everything else and I was getting closer to my booking time for dinner.
Walking to Under the Sea, I found Belle outside the Be Our Guest restaurant. Meet and greets are different but I still love to just suddenly find a character and grab a picture!
No more good times for me for LL so I caved and bought an Individual Lightning Lane for Space Mountain. It’s a short ride and I love it - even though it’s not as good as the one in France! It’s the only ride I ever genuinely fear for my life though!!
So I loved my ride on The Little Mermaid. I then went Small World, Space Mountain and then jumped on the resort Monorail to the Contemporary for my dinner reservation at the California Grill.
My reservation was at 5.40 so I was very early for the fireworks at 8pm but if anyone can eek out a meal for 2 hours, it’s totally me!!
However I’m not much of a drinker and for some reason I thought having a cocktail AND doing the wine pairing was a good idea!!
The meal was absolutely delicious and I managed to make it last with no problem, and at 8pm we all piled onto the terrace to watch the fireworks which was nice, but also freezing because we were 15 floors up!! Thank god I had bought a spirit jersey earlier in the day which I threw on.
Then fuller and poorer, I grabbed a Lyft back to Coronado Springs ready to pack for my next two days at Universal. I’m only taking a small backpack, a few toiletries and my clothes, oh and my new best friend the cinch bag. Will explain that later!
A really fun and surprisingly packed day at Magic Kingdom!
