Animal Kingdom - Day 6. 13/11/2021
Day 6 (this is NOT okay!) btw please excuse any typos in these. I’m usually writing them as I walk before I forget when I’ve done.
Animal Kingom. Ready in plenty of time this morning, lateral flow test done and everything but I had to run for the bus
I have breakfast at Tusker House this morning, excited to see Donald in his Explorer gear (that is who I was bounding as if that helps at all!) and I really wanted to get on the Safari first thing.
SO just to note the Safari doesn’t open during early magic hours, but I had an 8.20 breakfast reservation so I wanted to be on the safari as soon as possible.
It. Was. Beautiful. The lion roared and I cried. I’m so emotional about everything but that really was amazing. Brian was the driver and was a lot of fun.
Made my way to Tusker House. I’ve never been before and I was SO EXCITED to see Donald. My server Lee saw me and immediately said “Oh boy, Donald is gonna LOVE YOU”
I had coffee and finally got to try Jungle Juice lol I absolutely love the theming here. But SO MUCH FOOD!!! I loved meeting the characters here and it is so lively and fun. Definitely recommend here and if you eat here in the morning, you probably won’t need to eat again until dinner! (although I did sneak a few pastries into my sandwich bag to take with me!)
Next up was Gorilla Falls, one of the walking trails. A lot of people forget this but if you have animal lovers in your group PLEASE don’t miss this (and Maharajah Trek in Asia.) You can take them at your own pace, there are different animals in each and cast members are on hand to give you all sorts of info!
Then up to the Conservation Station at Rafiki’s Planet Watch on the little train. It’s a two minute back stage tour and at the end there is a petting zoo, an animation class and all sorts of other fun things like the veterinary centre where sometimes you might even see an animal being treated.
After this I realised I was absolutely desperate for a drink before making my way to Asia. I stood on the bridge over looking the river and had a special 50th dipped Mickey Bar and a bottle of water, had a quick photo pass photo shoot, then started to walk to Asia.
Just a little tip, walking from Africa to Asia on the right hand side by the river there is a little spot that you walk down to which has an absolutely beautiful and not busy view of the Tree of Life. Try and stop there if you can to get an unobstructed photo!
Into Asia for the Maharajah Jungle Trek. More animals in here. Tigers and bats and lots of good stuff. Then FINALLY I made my way to Expedition Everest for my first ride of the day at 1.40pm!
It was such a humid day today, not the kind of day you want to be rushing about. I love that I had no real fixed plans and I could just mosey about. After two rides on EE, I found the SuperZoom photopass just across from the ride, then had another slow wander towards Dinoland because it was definitely about to rain and I remembered that the place where I met Dino-Donald last time I was here is now a rest spot. Made it in time to sit down before a little shower came down.
When the rain stopped I went to watch the new show Disney Kite Tails. It was cute! Very sweet little show. It started raining again while I was watching but it didn’t spoil it. GIANT kites being pulled and steered by people on speedboats. Very impressed!
I had also got a LL for Festival of the Lion King which I used next. I’ve been excited to see this show! Love me some theatre! While I was waiting for it to start, I looked at my tip board. No other LL available so I might be waiting in line for something or maybe just having a relax.
My legs were really quite tired today and I have a day of magic kingdom tomorrow so I decided that after my dinner I was heading home maybe for a swim and an early night.
The Festival of the Lion King was SO GOOD! I’d watched a Lion King show in France too and I loved that as well. Really great fun for everyone!
After the show kicked out I made my way in Pandora and did a very stupid thing - I ordered Cheeseburger Pods even though my dinner was less than two hours away but they’re so yummy. And not TOO filling lol anyway I wanted to see the inside of Satu’li. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking by it!
I had a wander around Windtraders again and picked myself up a hoodie because I liked it and because since the rain it got a lot colder. Then it was time for my Flight of Passage LL. I do love this ride so much. There’s a point of the ride where I always just close my eyes now because it feels amazing! If you want to ride this without paying Definitely rope drop or wait as long as you possibly can. Remember, if you are still in the line when the park closes, they will still let you ride it .
You just may struggle to get back to your resort if you’re using Disney transportation.
Dinner was Yak & Yeti which I had always wanted to try. I wandered there slowly and took some photos, watched a couple of the Tree of Life shows - there are no fireworks in the Animal Kingdom because of the animals so the Tree of Life has projection shows instead. They last about 5 minutes each.
Just a note about Yak & Yeti. You might notice it is a slightly different experience to the other restaurants on property and that’s because it isn’t actually a Disney restaurant, it’s one of a chain by a group called Landry’s. I still had a nice time though and the food was lovely. I just chose 3 “small” plates and called it a day. I had pot stickers, fried green beans and the firecracker shrimp which was ABSOLUTELY delicious!
A slow walk back to the bus, and then I decided I was absolutely exhausted even though it was only 8.30! So when I arrived at my room, I got ready for bed, got my things ready for the morning, popped Disney+ on my TV (you can pair your phone to your TV for this!!) and set a sleep timer.
I was off before the TV was!
